Ponchos and Wraps and Mittens (oh my!)

In this part of California (southern), the weather just turned chilly, and the forecast says it's going to be chilly for at least the next week. So, I started looking for stuff to keep me warm.

A poncho is perfect to throw over whatever you are wearing. There are so many different ones to choose from...

Like these by SECRETango, Murielle Knitwear, and Nasila's Knits. I'm partial to the orange one, but then again, I'm always partial to anything orange.

If a poncho is too much, a wrap is just as nice. You can get them loose or tight...

Like these by JPaveyDesigns and Naughty Monkeys. These'll help to keep the chill off.

Of course, ponchos and wraps don't cover your arms or hands, but there's a solution for that...

Fingerless gloves and mittens from Nikifashion, EfiaFair, and Bluebirds and Blossoms. They have to be fingerless, or else you won't be able to text.

This post was contributed by Liz from Zizi Rho Designs who actually might need to turn on the heat. And break out her ponchos and wraps and fingerless mittens. Reminder: all pictures link back to the item on Etsy. Keep warm.

Infinity Scarves

Scarves are very versatile accessories. They can dress up an outfit. They can add a layer of warmth. And they can show off your personal style.

Most scarves are made with long strips of some kind of fabric. These are open on the ends. But there is a style of scarf where those ends are connected, giving you a tube. These are infinity scarves.

They can be warm...

(Like these from Chewsy By Design and Simpletruths.)

Or fine...

(Like these from Murielle Knitwear and Ardent Reverie.)

Or textured...
(Like these from It's me, Mary and Button Tree.)

Or something that makes a statement...

(Like these from Nikifashion and foothill fibers n' photo.)

Whatever they are, they are not your typical scarf.

This post contributed by Liz from Zizi Rho Designs, who was cold today and who kind of wished she had worn a scarf.

Spring Knits

It's spring. The weather has warmed up. It's time to put away all that winter gear. All those lovely knits. Wait a minute...

Just because it's gotten warmer doesn't mean that the knits have to go away. There are lovely knits that are perfect for this time of year.

Head-to-toe knits are a bit different for spring. For the head, a headband by Murielle Knitwear. And for the "toe" a pair of spats by EfiaFair.

Sweaters aren't out of the question either, as long as they are light and sleeveless. (These also transition into summer.) Like the mini dress from Peacefu1 or sleeveless knit top from Raghouse International.

Knits don't have to mean clothing, though. You can find knit jewelry as well such as earrings from Zizi Rho Designs or a bangle bracelet (crocheted, but we are talking yarn and stitches, and crochet is basically a sister craft of knit anyway) by hooray4lala.

Knits can also house your necessary electronics. What better way to house your cell phone or mp3 player than in some knits such as those from Ohmay or susanneedlehands.

Speaking of houses, spring is time for spring cleaning and...some decorating? How about a couple pillows like these from The Red Bungalow and Stitchy Impressions. (Yes, the second one is crocheted. But crochet is cool, too.)

It's spring. It's time to pull out the knits.
